Great news to all Hilton Honors members! Hilton will be extending status and granting concessions for requalification for the upcoming year 2022 to March 2023!

This is their third extension ever since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. Back in 2020, they announced two straightforward status extensions- first to March 2021, then to March 2022, coupled with refreshed elite night rollovers, reduced qualification thresholds, and a further suspension on points expiry.

Let’s go through the changes together.

Elite status extended till March 2023!

All current Hilton Honors elite members will have their status extended till 31 March 2023. This means that no requalification is required in 2021; the next requalification window will be from 1 January to 31 December 2022. This is simply amazing, especially if you have been able to tap on the promotion in 2019; you would have retained status from 2019 to 2023 without any requalification requirements!

Requalification requirements cut by 30%

For the 2022 requalification window for status till March 2024, Hilton will reduce requalification thresholds by 30%. This will make it easier for members to qualify for status by reducing the stays, nights or points that need to be accumulated. You can see the required figures below accordingly.

To put some perspective, elite qualifying requirements were reduced by 50% in 2021, so a 30% reduction is a tad less generous…

Milestone bonuses and elite status gifting are hallmarks of the Hilton Honors program for elite members, and 2022 will also see these thresholds reduced as follows:

  • Milestone Bonus: 10,000 bonus points for 30 elite nights; additional 10,000 bonus points for every 10 additional elite nights, one-time 30,000 bonus points for 60 elite nights instead of it beginning at 40 elite nights
  • Status Gift: Gift Gold status with 40 elite nights, or Diamond status with 70 elite nights instead of Gold Status with 60 elite nights/ Diamond Status with 100 elite nights

Elite nights from 2021 will be rolled over to 2022

In addition, elite nights earned in 2021 will automatically be rolled over and count towards 2022 qualification. For example, if you accumulated 29 elite nights from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021, you’ll start 2022 with 29 elite nights in your account, which means you will need another 13 elite nights to requalify for Diamond Status till March 2024

You may remember that Hilton previously rolled over elite nights in 2020 to 2021; do note these nights will not be rolled over again.

Points expiry extended to end-2022

Hilton Honors points typically expire after 12 months of inactivity, but points expiry is suspended till 31 December 2022.

You may extend the life of the entire balance by 12 months by earning or redeeming at least 1 Hilton point.

Conclusion

Executive Twin at the Conrad Singapore.

Hilton has once again taken the first move in taking care of its brand loyalists with its latest batch of loyalty extensions and concession. Needless to say, this is superb news for any Hilton Honors elite, and a move we hope to see other chains offer too.

While the question rings true on whether you are an elite when everyone else is an elite, having elite status is certainly better than having none. For example, Dickson is assured of having Hilton Diamond status till March 2023, and already has a headstart for requalification till March 2024. With his 30+ stays at Hilton Singapore the past year, he has already had upgrades, free breakfast, free evening cocktails amidst other perks, Dickson will be the first to tell you he is a very happy man with his Diamond status, especially with trips coming up.

With that said, enjoy your extended Hilton Status to all our Hilton readers!
